Pushing the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines
Our range of scientific capabilities spans biologics and small molecules, as well as new drug modalities. We are looking for new and emerging drug platforms that can revolutionise the treatment of diseases. Examples are in vivo expressed biologics, novel bispecific antibodies, and nanobots/smart drug-delivery systems.
We are also harnessing the growing potential of genomic and data science to increase our understanding of disease at the molecular level. This is opening the way to pursuing the next wave of disruptive R&D platforms with new scientific modalities such as PROTACs and cell therapies; new technologies, such as 'omics'; and new biology, such as epigenetics, oligonucleotides and antibody drug conjugates.

Our ‘AstraZeneca Exchange: science and business mentoring’ programme connects start-ups and entrepreneurs with AstraZeneca experts within our local life science ecosystems. Our mentors help early-stage businesses to explore and develop their ideas more effectively. The types of mentoring partnerships are diverse, both in time commitment and activities covered.
A.Catalyst Network
A.Catalyst Network is an interconnected and dynamic global network of more than 20 AstraZeneca health innovation hubs, made up of physical locations and virtual partnerships. Our collective ambition is to address current healthcare challenges, increase affordable and equitable access to healthcare and scale and showcase patient‑enabled innovation through partnerships within the health ecosystem.
BioVentureHub
The BioVentureHub is an innovative 4D (drugs, devices, diagnostics, digital health) ecosystem at the heart of AstraZeneca´s strategic R&D centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. The BioVentureHub provides emerging companies and academic groups a unique opportunity to co-locate and interact with AstraZeneca experts, and with each other, to advance life science, health care and the wellbeing of patients.
